Week beginning 20.06.16

What a busy week we've had in 4D!

On Wednesday evening we had our class production of Sleeping Beauty-The Ugly Truth. I'm sure you all agree that the children put on a fantastic show-despite a few mishaps! Thank you all for coming and for the beautiful flowers I received. I hope you got all of your props and costumes back in one piece, please let me know if you are missing anything!

We just about had time to calm down from all of that excitement before Sports Day on Friday morning! All of the children competed in 2-3 events and represented their houses brilliantly. Congratulations to St Clare who were victorious this year.

Believe it or not, we did manage to fit in some work between all of this! In Maths the children have been learning about co-ordinates, translation and data handling. We conducted a class survey on the most popular colour in 4D, then drew a bar graph and pictogram to show our findings.

We have started a new topic in RE called 'God's People'. This week the children wrote about their role models and what it was about them that inspired them.

In Topic this week we discussed the positive and negative outcomes of building a housing estate on Rothamsted Park, The children were all very passionate about preserving the local park!

Week beginning 06.06.16

In Literacy this week the children planned, wrote and edited a story. Their story was based on our class book 'The Iron Man' but had to include their own extraordinary character. They planned a problem and resolution for their story. When writing their story they tried hard to build tension and include lots of action and description. The progress they have made since the start of this year is clear to see.

As a special celebration for the Queens birthday, the children enjoyed a shared lunch this afternoon with the whole school. Afterwards, everybody went out onto the field to take part in a sports afternoon organised by Mr Simmonds. The children took part in activities which included a penalty shoot out and an egg and spoon race. We then had an ice lolly to cool down!

We have also been busy practising for the play all of this week. It is all starting to come together now and the children are really looking forward to sharing it with you. If you still need to order tickets or bring in costumes, please can you do so by Monday.
